Illinois Ammo Laws – FOID & Magazine Restrictions

The outpost is now shipping to Illinois

Illinois Ammo Laws & Magazine Restrictions-

Illinois enforces several important laws regarding ammunition. Armor-piercing ammunition is prohibited under both state and federal law and .50 BMG ammunition is banned entirely. To legally purchase ammo, Illinois residents must hold a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card. This requirement applies even for out-of-state purchases; buyers must present a FOID card along with a driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID before ammunition can be shipped.

Illinois state law sets the legal magazine capacity limits of 15 rounds for handguns and 10 rounds for long guns. Some municipalities impose stricter rules prohibiting magazines that hold more than 10 rounds despite the limit imposed by the state. As a result, we do not ship magazines over 10 rounds anywhere within the state of Illinois.

In addition to these statewide regulations, certain municipalities place additional restrictions on ammunition sales, which prevents us from shipping to residents in those areas. All federal regulations continue to apply alongside these state and local requirements.
